Fund Manager
A mutual fund manager is an investment professional with a high degree of financial and market education and experience and a record of excellent performance in buying and selling stocks and securities. Fund managers are also regarded as individuals who have a degree of market intuition and acumen.
This ability transcends that of simply interpreting financial data and enters the realm of predicting, based on personal experience and understanding. how a given stock or security will perform in the long term in response to complex social and economic factors that effect overall market trends and performance.
The principle responsibilities of a fund manager include investing the pooled resources of mutual fund investors through implementing a well-developed investment strategy and maintaining the fund's day to day trades. Normally in the execution of these duties a fund manager will be assisted by a research staff that gathers the information and analyses used to make strategic investment decisions.
