Mutual Funds in 2007 When it comes to mutual funds you always get something different. Throughout 2006 investors had a good year with mutual funds. But as we now enter 2007 many wonder what mutual funds will be like. In the early months of 2007 there is likely to be a lot of new mutual funds available through both existing and new players on the market. Already there are twenty new schemes planned for mutual funds within the first quarter of 2007. Before the end of March the largest mutual fund manager UTI Mutual Fund plans to launch six of these new schemes themselves. The SEBI has already approved eighteen of the twenty planned schemes while many others are undergoing regulator clearance right now. In addition, new companies such as JP Morgan and AIG are planning to release mutual funds around the March to April time of the year. While the increase in mutual fund choices may seem like a good deal for investors it may not be the case. Despite all the new mutual funds and schemes slated for 2007, the returns from these investments is expected to remain modest. However, all that can change based on the broader market trends that may occur in 2007. |
